One week until take-off!

Greetings from...Ohio!

A week from tomorrow I will be on my way to Vienna, Austria!  I have been beyond excited about this opportunity for the last 12 months, and I can't believe the time is finally here.  As part of the Dartmouth Foreign Study Program (FSP) in Music, I will be spending 10 weeks in Vienna with 12 other music students from Dartmouth.  As part of this program, we will take three classes.  For the first class, Perspectives in Music Performance, we will see 35 concerts total - 3 or 4 a week!  We will also be taking The History of Music in Central Europe and Studies in Music Abroad (i.e. lessons).  I'm so eager to be able to truly immerse myself in music, hear some of my favorite symphonies (Mahler, Beethoven,  Brahms), and play clarinet in perhaps the most musical city in the world!  I will also welcome the opportunity to explore Europe, spend time with my friends, and, of course, sample Vienna's world-famous coffee!

The next time I post, I will have (hopefully) fit all of my belongings into one...er, maybe two...suitcases, flown for 7 hours, and settled into my Viennese flat!

Until then, auf Wiedersehen! ("Goodbye!"...hopefully my German will get better as well)!

  1. Haha, I've been stressing about fitting all my stuff into one bag too. Right now I fit everything into one big suitcase and two carry-ons (one of which will not actually be a carry-on, so it should probably have another name). Hopefully I can get rid of the second carry-on after I pack all of my clothes into vacuum sealed bags...
